January 2011 Special Budget meeting

The Council of the City of Eddyville met in special session on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in
City Hall, Mayor Pro-Tem Lobberecht presiding.

Council members present: Doug Greenlee, John Simmers, Jim Durst, Wendell Terrell, Dwight
Lobberecht.
Council members absent: None.

Lobberecht stated the budget committee had met on Friday and decided it would be best for the council
as a whole to meet and make decisions on figures the clerk needs for the 11/12 budget. Lobberecht
stated Red Rock Rubbish, Doug Krebs who mows the cemetery and Mahaska Emergency Management,
Wapello Co. Sheriff and Mahaska Co. Sheriff figures would all stay the same as this budget year.

A discussion on the pay the Mayor receives was discussed. The clerk had several other cities yearly pay
for Mayors salary and meeting pay, ours was easily the lowest. There were mixed feeling on what it
should be ranging from $900 to $1500 yearly.
Greenlee moved, seconded by Durst to approve $1200.00 yearly for the Mayor position and increase
his meeting pay to $30.00 per meeting in town or out, leave council pay at $25.00 per meeting. AYE:
Greenlee, Simmers, Durst, Terrell, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Motion carried.

Greenlee moved, seconded by Terrell to approve a 3% wages increase for the three full time employees,
Deputy Clerk increase from $8.00 to $9.00 and hire two part people for summer help at $8.00 per hour
for 24 hours each. AYE: Durst, Terrell, Lobberecht, Greenlee. NAY: Simmers. Motion carried.

Simmers moved, seconded by Durst to approve an increase of $6300.00 for the Library budget.
AYE: Durst Terrell, Lobberecht, Greenlee, Simmers. NAY: 0. Motion carried.

After discussing several options for the employee insurance Terrell moved, seconded by Greenlee
to approve the employees pay 10% of the family portion of the insurance. AYE: Terrell, Lobberecht,
Greenlee, Simmers, Durst. NAY: 0. Motion carried.

Greenlee moved, seconded by Terrell to keep the tax asking the same and pay an additional $20,000.00
on the loan. By paying down the principle more money can be borrowed sooner to do more street work.
AYE: Lobberecht, Greenlee, Simmers, Durst, Terrell. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
