The Council of the City of Eddyville met in special session on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall. Mayor Johnston presiding.
Council Members present: John R. Johnson, Lance
Johnston, Jim Durst, Larry Harding, Dwight Lobberecht.
Council Members absent: None.
Also present were several citizens.
The Mayor informed everyone the new council members and mayor had been
sworn in before the meeting.
Durst moved, seconded by Lobberecht to approve the agenda as presented.
AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Lobberecht moved, seconded by Durst to approve the consent agenda consisting of: minutes of meetings in December 2005 and bills for December 2005 payable in January 2006. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Johnson moved, seconded by Harding to appoint Mickey Solano as City Clerk. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Durst moved, seconded by Johnston to appoint Greg Life as the city attorney. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Johnson moved, seconded by Durst to appoint the Ottumwa Courier as the official newspaper. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Harding moved, seconded by Johnston to appoint First Iowa State Bank as city depository not to exceed 2,000,000. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Lobberecht moved, seconded by Durst to approve the mayor’s appointments as follows:

Durst introduced Resolution 2006-001 and moved its adoption, a resolution to approve tax abatement to Ron and Janice Katko at 608 Bridge St. for their garage/storage area, seconded by Johnson. AYE: Johnston, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht, Johnson. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Chief Andrews gave his monthly report and annual report.
Renaming of certain streets turned over to Street Committee for next regular council meeting.
