Monday May 1, 2006


The council of the City of Eddyville met in regular session on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, Mayor Johnston presiding.

Council members present: John R. Johnson, Jim Durst, Larry Harding, Dwight Lobberecht.
Council members absent: Lance Johnston.

Lobberecht moved, seconded by Durst to approve agenda as presented. AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.

Johnson moved, seconded by Harding to approve minutes of meeting in April, bills for April payable in May. AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.

Harding moved, seconded by Durst to approve city clerk paying utility bills not yet in for April. AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.

Johnson introduced Resolution 2006-06 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving a variance to John Cliff at 208 N. 4th St. to move his car port within 2’ of property line toward the alley with the understanding that if the city needs to work in alley he will have to move this at his own expense, seconded by Durst. AYE: Johnson, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.

Lobberecht introduced Resolution 2006-07 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving a variance to Richard Lewman to move his porch 2’ closer to the property line on the south side on his house, seconded by Harding. AYE: Durst, Harding, Lobberecht, Johnson. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.

Harding introduced Resolution 2006-08 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving the ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, seconded by Durst. AYE: Harding, Lobberecht, Johnson, Durst. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.

Harding introduced Resolution 2006-09 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving the ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM’S INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM, seconded by Johnson. AYE: Lobberecht, Johnson, Durst, Harding. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.

Johnson moved, seconded by Lobberecht to approve a beer permit for the Eddyville Market. AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.

Chief Van Toorn informed the council the Dave’s Welcome Inn is going to apply for a social gambling license with the state.

Fire Chief Smith reported 2 storm watches, 5 grass fires, 1 trash fire 1 mutual aid, and 3 wrecks.

Durst introduced Resolution 2006-10 and moved its adoption, a resolution to set a Public Hearing for June 5, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. on the proposed plans, specifications of the Strawberry St. and Sixth St. improvements project, also receive and consider bids for said construction, seconded by Lobberecht. AYE: Johnson, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.

Clean up days is set, Dwight will provide dumpsters for appliances and tires.
