The City of Eddyville met in regular session on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, Mayor Pro Tem Lobberecht presiding.
Council Members present: John R. Johnson, Lance Johnston, Jim Durst, Larry Harding, Dwight Lobberecht.
Council Members absent: None
Harding moved, seconded by Durst to approve the agenda as presented. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Johnson moved, seconded by Johnston to approve the consent agenda consisting of minutes of meetings in December and bills for December payable in January 2008. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Johnston moved, seconded by Johnson to approve Mickey Solano as City Clerk. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Harding moved, seconded by Johnston to approve Greg Life as City Attorney. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Durst moved, seconded by Harding to approve the Ottumwa Courier as the city’s official newspaper. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Harding moved, seconded by Durst to approve First Iowa State Bank as the City’s official Depository. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Harding introduced Resolution 2008-01-01 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving mileage reimbursement at the same rate as the IRS reimbursement, seconded by Johnson. AYE: Johnson, Johnston, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Johnston introduced Resolution 2008-01-02 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving tax abatement for Constance Harding 104 Lowell Dr., seconded by Johnson. AYE: Johnson, Johnston, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Harding introduced Resolution 2008-01-03 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving tax abatement for John & Ashley Muhleman 507 N. 8th St., seconded by Durst. AYE: Johnson, Johnston, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Johnston introduced Resolution 2008-01-04 and moved its adoption, a resolution approving tax abatement for John R. and Delores Johnson. At 601 Berdan St., seconded by Harding. AYE: Johnson, Johnston, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Harding moved, seconded by Johnson to table contract with Garden & Assoc. until approved by DOT. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Fire Chief Smith reported 112 call for the 2007 year.
Houser is checking on generator for lift station and water plant, if he gets specs to Harding he will check to see what grants are available.
At the end of meeting citizen asked about the tree branches down.
Lobberecht informed him that the city is waiting on FEMA to come to town and see the damage.
