The Council of the City of Eddyville met in regular session on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, Mayor Johnston presiding.
Council Members present: John R. Johnson, Jim
Durst, Larry Harding, Dwight Lobberecht.
Council Members absent: None.
Johnson moved, seconded by Durst to approve the agenda as presented.
AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Harding introduced Resolution 2008-02-05 and moved its adoption, a resolution to approve the appointment of Richard Shepherd to fill the vacancy left after Lance Johnston resigned, seconded by Lobberecht. AYE: Johnson, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Motion carried. City Clerk Solano administered the oath of office to Shepherd.
Harding moved, seconded by Durst to approve the consent agenda consisting of minutes of meetings in January and bills for January payable in February 2008. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Durst moved, seconded by Johnson to approve the contract with Garden & Assoc. for the STP Grant with the DOT approval. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Lobberecht moved, seconded by Harding to approve the quote from Bub’s Tree Service for clean up of debris, tree hangers and a couple of trees. AYE: Durst, Harding, Lobberecht, Johnson, Shepherd. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Harding moved, seconded by Johnson to approve the recommendation of the Personnel Comm. to hire Lance Johnston for the Street Maintenance Position at $15.00 an hour, to start March 1, 2008. AYE: Harding, Lobberecht, Johnson, Shepherd, Durst. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Lobberecht introduced Resolution 2008-02-06 and moved its adoption, a resolution setting a Public Hearing for the 08/09 budget for March 10, 2008 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, seconded by Durst. AYE: Lobberecht, Johnson, Shepherd, Durst, Harding. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Fire Chief Smith discussed the ice storm and how the fire station was open as an emergency shelter because they have a generator and the ability to fill oxygen tanks for the people.
