The Council of the City of Eddyville met in special session on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, Mayor Johnston presiding.
Council Members present: John R. Johnson, Richard Shepherd, Jim Durst, Larry Harding, Dwight Lobberecht.
Council Members absent: None.
The Mayor announced this was the time and place set for a Public Hearing on the proposed 08/09 Budget. The Mayor inform the council and public that approximately $10,000. in new money was brought in so taxes would not increase. There being no comments or questions written or oral Harding moved, seconded by Johnston to close the public hearing at 7:05 p.m. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Johnson introduced Resolution 2008-03-07 and moved its adoption, a resolution to approve the 08/09 budget as presented, seconded by Lobberecht. AYE: Johnson, Shepherd, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Linda Bonnett was present to represent the Eddyville Historical Museum & Heritage Center. She asked the city to pass a resolution showing the city’s’ support, also have the city commit city personnel valued at $12,000 as part of the matching funds for the grant. After some discuss with the city attorney and changing some of the wording in the resolution to commit city personnel as available and only if the committee receives the Vision Iowa Community Attraction and Tourism grant. Lobberecht introduced Resolution 2008-03-08 and moved its adoption, a resolution endorsing the construction of the Eddyville Historical Museum & Heritage Center, seconded by Johnson. AYE: Shepherd, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht, Johnson. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
