The Council of the City of Eddyville met in regular session on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, Mayor Johnston presiding.
Council Member present: John R. Johnson, Richard Shepherd, Jim Durst, Larry Harding, Dwight Lobberecht.
Council Members absent: None.
Durst moved, seconded by Harding to approve the agenda with changes of moving #12 to top between 3 and 4 and delete # 5. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Johnson moved, seconded by Shepherd to approve the consent agenda consisting of minutes of meetings in March and bills for March payable in April. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Lobberecht moved, seconded by Harding to approve the Girl Scouts planting a tree at the Frog Pond. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Harding moved, seconded by Lobberecht to have curb side clean up on May 12 regular garbage day. AYE: 5. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Johnson introduced Resolution 2008-04-08 and moved its adoption, a resolution to designate the frog pond area as the Frog Pond Recreational and Athletic Fields, seconded by Shepherd. AYE: Johnson, Shepherd, Durst, Harding, Lobberecht. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Fire Chief Smith was present to inform the council of a storm spotter class at the Fire Station on April 14, no charge and open to the public. Also they responded to several wrecks in March.
A general discussion on the condition of the streets, a few of the seal coat streets will need some work this summer and there is a drainage problem at the alley between 3rd and 4th streets. Randy Deevers was present to ask when his drive would be fixed the mayor told him it should be this summer.
Mayor and council wanted to thank the Ruritans and FFA for all their work. The Ruritans for their work at the cemeteries picking up branches and the FFA for helping residents clean their yards and bringing the brush to the curbs. A big thank you to both organizations.
