The Council of the City of Eddyville met in regular session on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall, Mayor Johnston presiding.
Council members present: Doug Greenlee, Jim Simmers, Jim Durst, Wendell Terrell.
Council members absent: Dwight Lobberecht.
Durst moved, seconded by Terrell to approve the agenda as presented. AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Simmers moved, seconded by Durst to approve the consent agenda consisting of minutes of meeting in October and bills for October payable in November 2010. AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
The Mayor explained the Heartland Highway Corridor Master Plan as wanting to limit the number of stop lights on the 4 lane highways. Greenlee introduced Resolution 2010-30 and moved its adoption, a resolution to enter into the Heartland Highway Corridor Master Plan, seconded by Simmers. AYE: Simmers, Durst, Terrell, Greenlee. NAY: 0. Resolution passed.
Simmers moved, seconded by Durst to appoint Greenlee to the Indian Hills Regional Development Corp. AYE: Durst, Terrell, Greenlee, Simmers. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Council was given the Wapello Co. Sheriff’s report.
Fire Chief Smith reported they had several calls about the smoke testing. And they had one controlled house fire.
Greenlee moved, seconded by Durst to end the discussion of mandatory backflow preventers but when people apply for a building permit the clerk will have information available for them about the preventers. AYE: 4. NAY: 0. Motion carried.
Log cabin in park discussed no action.
Mahaska Co. came in to help with cemetery hill to reseed and sprayed it with a tackifier and fertilizer.
The Mayor informed the council the house at 101 Cedar St. is ready for asbestos inspection and then Area 15 RPC will advertise it to be torn down.
